Zero Clients require an Ethernet connection to a central server hosting software applications which users can access wirelessly or with cable. These devices send and receive computation requests via a network and only facilitate access to the applications available to them from the data center server. Decoding and display processes occur on dedicated hardware because of which these endpoints need minimal configuration and they boot up rapidly. Software updates for a Zero Client are few and far between and it consumes very little energy during full operation.
Experts and Trusted Leaders in Secure Endpoints
Zero Clients
The term “zero client” is often used and misunderstood and sometimes misapplied. Originally, true zero clients had essentially zero memory and storage and required essentially zero ongoing maintenance and IT management. Newer varieties open additional flexibility for users and IT, and the latest generation allows endpoints to be incorporated into a Zero Trust architecture.

Explore Our Traditional Zero Clients (TERA2)
Ultra-long-life devices and easiest-to-manage.
These are the original zero clients. They utilize the TERA2 chip, allowing them to send encrypted pixels rather than actual data packets to and from the zero client to the host computer. The TERA2 chip allows this to happen on a device that has no accessible OS, memory, or storage. This provides trusted data protection, even if the device is tampered with or stolen. TERA2 chip zero clients are limited to a single connection and only operate with PCoIP as the protocol. These devices are famously reliable and easy for IT to manage.

Latest Generation Zero Client Built for Zero Trust
If you are looking for the security and functionality of a zero client with the latest technology for improved performance, a Trusted Zero Client is the perfect solution. ClearCube has been deeply involved in the testing of this new technology, both in our headquarters and in our customers’ environments. We’ve got the expertise and experience to help you understand, evaluate, and deploy these next-gen zero clients.
If you are looking for endpoints for Zero Trust architecture, our new Trusted Zero Clients were designed and built to give you all the features and functionalities of a zero client in a Zero Trust architecture. These devices are given a birth certificate at the time of manufacture, ensuring they fully comply with Zero Trust requirements. Their configuration is captured in a snapshot, and HP’s Trust Center software continuously monitors the device for any changes or non-compliance.
If it ever fails one of these repeating validations, the device can be locked out of making a connection until IT can investigate. Trusted Zero clients can work with HP Anyware, VMWare Horizon (native support) and Blast, Leostream, Nutanix, and KVM. ClearCube has been deeply involved in the testing of the setup, configuration, and operation of Trusted Zero Clients with the Trust Center software. We are experts in this new technology, and we are best-equipped to help you understand and begin testing—or using—these new Zero Trust endpoints.
In addition, we have three demo setups to choose from, allowing you to pick the easiest or the most customized way to begin testing Trusted Zero Clients.
Key Attributes:
- The latest generation of PCoIP technology
- Compatible with Blast Extreme
- Enhanced graphics capabilities with PCoIP Ultra using HP Anyware
- Designed for Zero Trust architecture
- Free device management software (DMS) included
- SFP adaptor for copper or fiber network connection
- Optional CAC reader

Frequently Asked Questions
We are the first to integrate PCoIP technology into Zero Clients. Our endpoints set the bar high on Zero Client performance in virtualized environments. You receive proactive, end-to-end solutions that are guaranteed to accommodate every VDI use case.
With no resident OS or storage that can run software, our Zero Clients are completely immune to malware and viruses. As there is no local storage, users can remain worry free about data loss resulting from any form of hardware failure.
Having minimal hardware, ClearCube Zero Clients emit less noise and heat, use less power, decrease clutter and free desktop footprint by saving valuable space and deploying in minutes.
Zero Clients represent the most secure, reliable and efficient means of delivering applications to users. No data is stored on the individual client and there is no native OS to infect. Users cannot copy sensitive data to removable media or install unauthorized software in a Zero Client setup. This device does not require any OS patches which can break applications and lead to downtime. All these features ease administration and ensure consistent productivity across the workplace. Furthermore, Zero Client solutions have a generous lifespan and with minimal hardware components, they dynamically decrease recycling and power costs.
Any business, regardless of size and industry, can leverage the benefits of this computing model for maximum performance in VDI environments. It is the ideal IT solution for those seeking to reduce multiple costs involving desktop provisioning, tech support, management and maintenance. It is recommended for companies and organizations where power users expect high-definition media, high resolution and full frame rate even over high-latency networks.
It is important for your vendor to present you with recommendations based on an in-depth analysis of your unique business model and use cases. The perfect Zero Client offers just the right balance between cost and benefit, so TCO and ROI are key determinants in every profile. Ideally, work with a vendor who provides a Free Demo unit so that you know exactly what to expect from a specific Zero Client configuration.
Zero Clients can be used by anyone, especially those looking to:
- Eliminate IT frustration of managing and maintaining outdated and complex IT systems
- Improve data security and integrity
- Achieve near zero downtime
- Lower IT costs
What is a Zero Client?
Easy Setup
- Anti-Virus Not Needed
- No Moving Parts
- No Updates Required
- Integrated SIPR/CAC Reader
A PCoIP Zero Client is an ultra-secure, stateless endpoint device that receives encrypted pixels, rather than actual data. Because zero clients effectively have no (zero) OS, session memory, or storage, they are the ultimate secure endpoint. Deter viruses and malware and feel protected if the device is lost or stolen. Moreover, IT can lock the device so that end users cannot copy or download data.
Using a zero client with an integrated CAC (common access card) card reader allows multiple employees to share the same device but with different levels of access to the server, cloud, or data center. Because the CAC reader is integrated, you can attain security level access with fewer cords, peripherals, and with a less cluttered desktop.
How Do Zero Clients Work?
VMware Ready PCoIP Zero Clients work by serving as a secure terminal connection to a remote PC. That remote PC can be a centralized machine, a virtualized machine, or a cloud desktop instance. Each zero client can only connect to a single connection point (computer), and it cannot be rebooted or otherwise redirected to a different connection. This is because the connection destination is locked in the BIOS. If a zero client were ever removed from the work location, it would become an unconnectable device with no locally stored, usable data. This is an important security attribute of zero clients.
A tremendously important security feature of VMware Ready PCoIP Zero Clients is that they do not send or receive data. Instead, zero clients receive and send only individually encrypted (256-bit) pixels. This means that the data remain secured in your data center or in the cloud. There is no data that can be intercepted between the zero client and the host computer. When security is paramount, a zero client is the best endpoint.
Zero clients offer fantastic user experience even with their ultra-secure operation. End users will enjoy high definition, multi-monitor display and crisp responsiveness with no lagging.
The secure connection between a zero client and the host computer is established using PCoIP technology. Zero clients can connect natively (directly) to a physical host card, to VMWare running Windows OS, or to Amazon Workspaces. Zero clients can connect to other VDI stacks, cloud platforms, or physical computers using HP Anyware software.
